  • Strategic Planning for Project Managers
Today’s business environment has made it essential for project managers to understand organizational strategic planning. Organizations that are proficient at strategic planning will survive another year to tout their wares. Organizations that do not master the science of strategic planning will not survive long. Project managers must learn to participate and facilitate strategic planning sessions. They must be able to assess the current organizational state, formulate a strategy for business success, and help their organization implement the strategy through projects. They must be able to evaluate organizational progress and make necessary adjustments to the strategy as the organization progresses. Through the use of case studies and hands on exercises, and methodologies like PEST Analysis, Porters 5 forces, and Balanced Scorecard, participants will learn to do the following: 1. Determine organizational mission and objectives, 2. Assess the current organizational state, 3. Formulate organizational strategies, 4. Implement organizational strategies, 5. Control organizational strategy progress.

  • Advanced Multi-Project Planning and Resource Management Using MS Project
This course is designed to instruct Project Managers on techniques to manage project resources, pipelines, and multiple projects using Microsoft ® Project's more powerful capabilities. The class demonstrates how those capabilities can be used to transform resource management concepts into your Microsoft ® project schedule. The class is instructor led and includes many hands-on labs.

  • Critical Chain Project Management: A better Critical Path using MS Project
In the last 50 years of project management, since the “Gantt” and “PERT” methodologies were developed, there has only been one major breakthrough in project scheduling. This breakthrough is called “Critical Chain Project Management” pioneered in 1997 by Dr. Eli Goldratt of the Goldratt institute. This course gives participants a full understanding of the CCPM techniques, tools, and theory. Participants develop critical chain solutions in MS Project and apply them to all types of projects. Participants develop single-project critical chain plans and also stagger projects in a multiple-project environment. Participants learn buffer management techniques for avoiding the pitfalls of committing too much or too little to any specific project, and for meeting project time and cost commitments every time.

  • Introduction to Program Management
When in a program environment, the processes and skills needed to direct a program differ from that of traditional project management. This course explains the key terms and themes of program management. It also introduces Program Management Best Practices that are recognized by the industry as the most successful for managing programs. The course includes a number of real world exercises and case studies to familiarize Program Managers with the complexities and every day issues of Program Management. Participants will gain an understanding of each program management phase and how to effectively plan, guide, and coordinate the tasks and activities within each phase. Specific examples are used throughout the workshop to reinforce program management principles and concepts. This course is aligned with PMI’s “Standard for Program Management” and "A Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge" (PMBOK® Guide) - Third Edition, published by the Project Management Institute (PMI®), Inc., 2004.

  • Lean Project Management
The goal of project management is the successful planning, execution, and delivery of projects. Organizations need to develop an effective project management system in order to facilitate this goal. A project management system is comprised of people, process, and technology. Lean project management helps understand conventional project delivery systems and augments them in the areas of people, process, and technology to deliver results, “in half the time, all the time!”

  • PMO Portfolio Management and Organizational Project Management Governance
    Description coming soon.

  • Proactive Project Risk Management
This course examines project risks from both a top-down and bottom-up perspective using a proven five-step risk management process. Participants will learn how to evaluate and respond to risk at the project and task levels using effective tools and a highly regarded assessment model. Included in the class are a number of real world exercises that take you from risk identification at the beginning of a project through the challenges of ongoing assessment of risks throughout the project. You will practice a proactive approach to risk management - based on a clear understanding of the powerful nature of both qualitative and quantitative approaches to risk management.

  • Project Communications Management and Performance Reporting
This course focuses on both improving the efficiency and effectiveness of all project-related communications, from initial planning through closure. Participants will apply all course principles to a work-related case study taken directly from their work environment. This course is designed for all project managers and project team leaders. Participants will be able to identify stakeholders, communicate problems effectively, identify and apply conflict resolution techniques, and evaluate closing phase communications.

  • Project Cost Management
This course examines project costing by providing participants with cost estimation techniques and tools to manage project cost. It demonstrates how resource planning, cost estimating, cost budgeting, and cost control are applied to ensure that a project is completed within the approved budget and schedule. Participants will also become familiarized with a number of powerful cost management tools that will allow them to forecast and influence future project cost success. Included in the class are a number of real world exercises that take you from cost estimation at the beginning of a project through the challenges of ongoing cost management throughout the project.

  • Project Procurement and Vendor Management
This course provides students a detailed view of the processes used to acquire resources, to complete projects, and to ensure fulfillment of requirements. Students are introduced to the procurement acquisition and contract processes of project management, and to the details on contract administration. A systematic approach will aid students in developing an in-depth understanding of procurement and contracting issues from the standpoint of both buyers and sellers of products and services needed to complete project work. This course is 100% compliant with the Project Management Institute’s (PMI’s®) current Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK®).

  • Project Resource Management and Soft Skills
Projects rarely fail due to technical problems. The most common reason for failed projects stems around the inability to effectively work and communicate with others. Project management is an art and a discipline and your success is dependent upon your ability to swiftly navigate the day-to-day challenges of working with others. This seminar will challenge and hone soft skills for the various interactions with team members, management, vendors and sponsors that a project manager must deal with throughout the life of a project. The course will focus on personality types, how to understand and develop your team members, developing your leadership skills, conflict management, negotiation skills, motivating your team, interacting with management and executives, and how to make tough decisions easier.

  • Project Scope and Requirements Management
This course will enable participants to effectively manage the scope and requirements of a project. As part of the Triple Constraints, Scope is often the most challenging part of the constraints to manage. In this class the participants will participate in group exercises that will enable them to learn the skills needed to properly manage the Scope of a project.

  • Six Sigma Project Quality Management
This course empowers project managers to become project quality management leaders in their organizations. It gives them the tools they need to effectively manage project quality from the onset of the project. Participants will learn how to plan for early project defect detection and employ strategies, tools, and techniques for conducting work product Peer Reviews. Included in the course are a number of real world exercises that take you from defect identification, rework, and closeout, to defect prevention. You will practice a proactive approach to quality management.
